  1. This is a wonderful film that weaves a beautiful love story through a terrible time in human history. By focusing on the challenges faced by individual families, the horrific Armenian struggle is clearly and sadly placed in the historical context of that era.
I had heard stories, similar to those portrayed in this movie, from my Armenian grandparents, both born and orphaned in Turkey. Seeing this film helped me to understand their lives and stories better. For that I am very grateful.
I saw this film with an educated couple. To my surprise, they had never heard of the Armenian Genocide(s). The evening was thus an education for them, and for me.
Thank you to all who participated in the telling of this long-overdue story. May the film be viewed widely and frequently – by all who need to SEE.

  2. The Promise seems to resemble more of a remake of the film-within-a-film in Egoyan’s Ararat.
