  1. There are 100 Senators & 435 Representatives. 80/535 = 15%. That means it’s a long shot as 85% are not on board. Good Luck!

  2. You think Trump knows what is Armenia? leave alone the question of Genocide that he firstly ignores completely, and secondly he will never make his good friend Erdogan angry with something he doesn’t know existed. his towers in Ankara are waiting to be built, that is the most important thing for a charlatan like Trump.

  3. New president, new hopes for Armenians to have their genocide finally recognised, good luck.

  4. Pandering to those most susceptible to pander. You think these “More than 80 Congressional Leaders” don’t know that Trump has properties in Turkey and Azerbaijan (and in Azerbaijan’s arms supplier, Israel)?

  5. The Congressional letter to President Trump mentions that the Eisenhower administration recognized the Armenian genocide in 1951. I’m surprised nobody caught the error: Eisenhower didn’t become president until 1953. So either it was the Truman administration that recognized the genocide, or the date is wrong.

In any case, I’m not optimistic that a letter signed overwhelmingly by Democrats will persuade Trump to offend his Turkish friends for the sake of our tiny, forgotten nation. There’s no money in it.

  6. Trump’s opportunity to fulfill the promise Obama made and failed to carry out.

  7. Good luck is all we can hope for!! All Armenians
and non Armenians should push for this. Trump
should STOP worrying about his business and his money.
Do it for the survivors that are still living. Escheks!!

  8. The only thing more leech-like than a president who fails to keep promises are commenters who think they are so smart just because they write sarcastic and pessimistic comments. What is your alternative? How are you helping the issue by being an internet warrior typing things like, “You are foolish for having faith in president x or y.” You are pointless, really.

  9. Unfortunately, Armenia recognized genocide but this did not stop Armenian Republic committing genocide in Qarabagh. Surely, killing hundreds, deporting all Azeris from the occupied territories and total destruction of their remaining cultural lagacies in their ancestral lands does constituted genocide in accordance with the UN Convention of 1948.

  10. «Traditionally, Republicans are distinguished by a more rigid and consistent foreign policy philosophy, which is based on protection and preservation of America’s global leadership. Bad news for Armenia and the NKR (Artsakh) is the fact that Iran is really of great interest to the current administration. This means that the White House will strive to strengthen its relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey. Ankara and Israeli authorities by the means of their influential lobbyists in Washington will try to convince Trump to involve Baku in resolving the Iranian issue. Last time such lobbying activity led to “freezing” Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act by Republican Bush Jr. That Section actually prohibited any possible assistance from America to Azerbaijan. Thus, there is no doubt that different political forces and lobby groups will make attempts to actualize the Azerbaijani factor.
Many key members of Trump’s administration are in favor of urgent solving the Iranian problem. Thus, the Secretary of Defense James Mattis and the Director of CIA Mike Pompeo are convinced that the USA should use every opportunity to put maximum pressure on Tehran. Washington already has some experience of using Azerbaijan as an intelligence bridgehead. Probably, in case an appropriate political decision is made, Americans will plan to strengthen their presence in that country. The Secretary of State Rex Tillerson – the former head of Exxon Mobil Corporation – has extensive connections with representatives of Azerbaijani political elites.»
