Hamazkayin Celebrates Opening of Day Care Center in New Jersey

TEACNECK, N.J.—The opening ceremony of Hamazkayin Eastern Regional’s Early Education Center, a daycare center, in Teaneck, N.J. took place on Oct. 15, under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, in the presence of pastor of the St. Illuminator’s Cathedral Rev. Fr. Mesrob Lakissian, pastor of the Sts. Vartananz Church, Rev. Fr. Hovnan Bozoian, guests, staff members, founders of the Early Education Center, donors, and representatives of Armenian organizations.

Among the honored guests were the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Central Committee member Hovsep Avakian, Regional Executive Board members of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Eastern United States Talin Daghlian, Sandra Vartanian, Sonia Bezdikian, and representative of the Homenetmen Regional Executive and member of Hamazkayin’s Central Executive Board Hrair Baronian. The presence of actor-director Vahik Pirhamzei and actor, artist, and author Vahe Berberian was especially appreciated by all present.

Arevig Caprielian, chairperson of the Hamazkayin Educational and Cultural Society’s Eastern Regional Executive, delivered the opening remarks. ARF Central Committee representative Hovsep Avakian, as well as Early Education Center founding members Dr. Dikran Kazandjian, who is the former chairperson of Hamazkayin’s Eastern Regional Executive, representative of Hamazkayin’s Central Executive Board Hrair Baronian, and attorney Hani Khoury also delivered their remarks. Khoury and Sossi Arlia, who had played a significant role in the foundation and success of the day care facility, were honored. Gifts and certificates of recognition were distributed by Kari Ghazarian, member of Hamazkayin’s Eastern Regional Executive board.

Ani Tchaghlasian, a longtime member and currently the chairperson of the New Jersey chapter of Hamazkain and one of the founding members of the Early Education Center, was the able master of ceremonies. Hasmig Aprahamian, member of Hamazkayin’s Eastern Regional Executive, spoke about the establishment of the Center, which, in the span of two years, went from being a dream into a reality, thanks to the faith and hard work of its founders and donors.

The ribbon, aptly chosen to be the color of Hamazkayin’s logo, was cut by Hrair Baronain and Arevig Caprielian, whereafter Archbishop Choloyan and the reverend fathers blessed the building. In his speech, Archbishop Choloyan praised Hamazkayin’s great role in the community and wished it success in its future projects.

The al fresco celebration continued with a short and beautiful musical program featuring Meghri Tutunjian (flute) and Van Mouradian (cello). Following the musical program, guests enjoyed the delicious Armenian food, while enjoying each other’s company.
