On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I want to extend my congratulations to the people of Armenia as you celebrate the 25th anniversary of your nation’s independence on Sept. 21.

The United States deeply values its warm friendship with Armenia and with all of you. In the past quarter century, Armenia has made great progress, and my government looks forward to continuing to work closely with you in support of shared prosperity, strong democratic institutions, the rule of law, and regional peace. We appreciate Armenia’s consistent support for effective international peacekeeping operations and its leading role in responding to the Syrian refugee crisis. We are also grateful for the presence in the United States of a vibrant and highly-accomplished Armenian-American community.

On this special day, I offer best wishes to all Armenians for a peaceful and prosperous year to come.

  1. What a hollow and insincere statement.
Kerry, his colleagues at the State Department and his boss have lost their moral integrity and human dignity when it comes to Armenia’s causes.
They have been dishonest and partial when Armenia’s issues and problems with Turkey and Azerbaijan are involved, always siding with the latters’ two clowns; Erdogan and Aliyev.
Glad to see him go on January.

  2. He offers best wishes for peace and prosperity for Armenians while him and Kerry tell aliyev behind closed doors in April to protect territorial integrity.
    Makes me beyond sick.

  3. Thanks to him for lip sympathy, hope next government realizes kingdoms come kingdoms go but truth survives and so will Armenia. The Political Correctness is morally incorrect and the Superpower will now stand with truth with Moral Courage.

  4. Another typical hypocrisy-filled speech by the U.S. Secretary of State!

“The United States deeply values its warm friendship with Armenia.”

Really? Then what explains the reason that the U.S. government persistently overlooks Azerbaijan’s campaign of terrorism against Armenia?

“We are also grateful for the presence in the United States of a vibrant and highly-accomplished Armenian-American community.”

But yet, the U.S. government persistently refuses to publicly recognize the Armenian Genocide.
