  1. Armenia’s check-mate in three moves: As it has been pointed out by many experts any losses or “concessions” of de-facto Artsakh territory on the line of contact, given Baku’s warmongering and genocidal intentions, will inevitably lead to the loss of Artsakh which would in turn lead to the loss of Syunik, Armenia’s vulnerable narrow southern strip which will come under military pressure from then occupied Artsakh as well as from Nakhijevan. And with the loss of Syunik Armenia will become a bantustan type small indefensible island surrounded on all sides by a Turko-Azeri ocean.

    • I agree. However it seems Iran doesn’t want that scenario at all. They were the only ones recently who wanted to include Armenia in the new trade routes being discussed that excluded Armenia. Also Iran would be surrounded as well by Azeri’s and Turks. Same reason they don’t want foreign peace keepers as a possible resolution for Karabakh. they want status quo.

  2. Friend, you are preaching to the choir; unfortunately not only are you correct on all points, but I would like to add more to the fire! For starts, Armenia should have completed the South Caucus railway years ago. True it’s a difficult undertaking but it should be a national priority, as I’ve stated many times, bring Army units for labor but get that extra artery flowing to enhance Armenia’s economy in the face of the savages next door! If I was president, (I say it in the context of this comment) the Azeri oil line would have been part of a decree sent out to Baku…”If as much as a single hair to fall of an Armenian soldier from Azerbaijani aggression the pipe will be blown”…This would have, also, been sent to the giant oil companies tied to the Azeri oil so that they force the animal in Baku to behave! However, now that you murdered Armenian soldiers this is the new addendum…” You Azerbaijan and the oil companies sleeping with that savage in Baku, 3 million dollars tariff a day is to be paid to Armenia so that your oil flow is not disrupted”!

  3. Great article: 1.The blame of the unpreparedness of the army and the losing of the hill tops requiring the moving of 2 Armenian villages and the loss of over 100 soldiers to regain ground, fall squarely on the top Armenian leadership, namely Sarkisian. If not him then who? What was the supposed ‘system of deterrence” they talked about? The 4 day war and now the police station hold up seems to have spooked Sarkisian lately. It seems the mediating groups want him to twist NOW to let go of some of those lands. It would be his head if he did. Ultimately the real heroes are the young kids who give the ultimate sacrifice on the from lines. 2. Everyone needs to refer to the TREATY OF KARS. Signed Oct 13, 1921 between Stalin’s Bolsheviks and the Kemalist Turks. GIVING AWAY Armenian lands to a newly created country called Azerbaijan. How could ther be Azerbaijan to our east and west? This is illegal and doesn’t make it part of anything.
3.We won the war. Act accordingly. Why does the winning side need to give anything up in negotiations? Why isn’t Artsakh’s independence declared already? At worst, status quo is best. Give up NOTHING. Armenia needs to give up nothing. Azerbaijan always talks about retaking Artsakh “anytime they choose” and boast of superior arms etc, yet the 4 day war cost them as well including many hundreds of soldiers and not much to show for it. Had we lost the war there would be no negotiations, nothing and Armenia would be in a dire situation right now.
    4. Its very clear that the ONLY TRUE guarantee of our security and motherland is our ARMY. Invest in that. Arm that to the teeth. As a society we must be prepared for war. Its reality. Turks want us gone. Russia is indifferent at best. BE PREPARED. that’s the Armenia motto..

  4. The LoC with Azerbaijan needs to be protected by every means possible. Every inch of teritory lost to the Azeris puts our compatriots at great risk. Aliev has demonstrated at every stage that he can not be trusted, nor can we rely on OSCE to protect our people and our rights. Armenians are s great nation for inovation. Let us develop our own defensive weapons suitable for the job or get help from our friends the French and the Iranians.
