The Chicago “Zabelle” Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Chapter celebrated Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 with a symbolic message of compassion and caring, reinforcing the mission of the ARS.
The celebration started with a Kir Royale toast, followed by a spread of Italian lunch favorites including a Lenten menu. The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the new Hayr Sourp of the Armenian All Saints Apostolic Church, Very Rev. Father Ghevont Pentezian, who elaborated on Armenians’ Lenten traditions and the merging of the pagan and Christian celebrations. Lunch was crowned by a sumptuous spread of desserts made by our Ungerouhis.
The afternoon festivities featured a raffle drawing of delightful items that ARS members browsed and coveted. A cold, snowy, and icy afternoon was turned into a warm, bright, and sunny celebration in the cozy hall decorated with hearts hanging from the ceiling and heart-shaped chocolate boxes adorning the tables.
