Letter: Why Armenians Should Lean Right in 2016

A Response to ‘Why Armenians Should Lean Left in 2016’

Dear Editor:

So dismayed and dumbfounded was I with Raffi Wartanian’s article, “Why Armenians Should Lean Left in 2016” (The Armenian Weekly, Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, page 3) that I felt compelled to respond. Indeed, I was asked by Armenian family and friends to do so. Mr. Wartanian’s leaps of logic, misinterpretation of facts, and bias required correction.

First, let us address this idea that recognition of Armenian Genocide should no longer be a litmus test for endorsement of U.S. presidential candidates by Armenian Americans. The timing of the suggestion is convenient for anyone looking to support Democrats in the next presidential election. In 2008, candidate Barack Obama could not have spoken more forcefully and clearly about recognizing the Armenian Genocide. President Obama, Senator and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have had seven years so far to do so, but those Democrats have done nothing in that regard.

Look at the remarkable comments made by Turkish interests and genocide deniers: “According to U.S. sources in Ankara, Hillary Clinton can be expected to be Turkey’s best advocate for preventing the genocide resolution. In return, Ankara will be a trustworthy ally for the U.S. in promoting Washington’s interests in the region, provided that they fall in line with the Turkish interests” (see http://www.todayszaman.com/columnists_hillarys-turkey-visit-and-genocide-claims_168694.html).

Given that sentiment, how can any self-respecting Armenian American vote for Hillary Clinton?

The fact is the staunchest U.S. political ally Armenians ever had was Republican Senator (and presidential candidate) Robert Dole. Senator Dole threatened sanctions against Turkey when it refused to allow U.S. emergency supply planes to enter Turkish airspace to provide relief to Armenian earthquake victims. It was Republican Robert Dole that fought Hillary Clinton’s husband Bill when the Clinton Administration kowtowed and capitulated to Turkish and Azerbaijani plans and demands.

This idea Mr. Wartanian floats that somehow U.S. Republican administrations encourage more corruption than Democrat administrations and that somehow a Democratic administration in the U.S. would reduce corruption in Armenia is absurd.

Mr. Wartanian’s bias rings just as clear when he claims the National Rifle Association (NRA) has a “destructive stronghold on America’s public health.” Of course he offers no proof whatsoever to this astonishing claim. Lest we forget, here’s a reminder for Mr. Wartanian: The best protection a minority can offer itself, the best way to avoid ethnic cleansing or genocide, is for that minority population to be well armed. The first step any dictator or tyrant will take is to disarm their opposition. The Democrats on the left in the U.S. want to disarm the public. The Republicans have no issues with honest, law-abiding citizen being well armed.

Another leap of logic is this idea of Wartanian’s that somehow the political left in Turkey, where “Armenian activists have found a voice,” translates or equates in some way to the political left in the U.S. That makes no sense. One has nothing to do with the other.

In terms of Middle East instability and threats to liberties and civil society that inhibit Armenia’s growth and the region in general, it was President Obama’s weak and vacillating foreign policy, proffered by Secretary of State Clinton, that led to the spawning and rapid emergence of ISIS/ISIL/DAESH into the vacuum of power Obama/Clinton created. ISIS is by far the greatest threat to Christians in the Middle East—all Christians, Armenian, Syrian, or otherwise. Obama and Clinton have done little to nothing to even contain ISIS, never mind trying to defeat it.

Furthermore, the improving relationship with Russia’s Vladimir Putin that had been fostered by George W. Bush completely collapsed under Obama. Where Russia would exploit and lack respect for a Democratic administration of either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, the opposite would be true for a Republican administration of Donald Trump or Ted Cruz. Putin understands who he can push around and who he can’t. If Armenian Americans want to restore some semblance of order to the Middle and Far East and restore America’s position of respect in the region, they should lean to the right of the political spectrum in 2016, not the left.

History has proven that the Russians, the Turks, and others in the Middle East understand power and exploit weakness. The American right has always maintained military might. The greatest gains in democracy and civil rights in Russia and the Middle East came under Presidents Reagan and Bush (think the Berlin Wall coming down, collapse of the Soviet Union that recreated an independent Armenia, the first successes in Iraq and Afghanistan). The greatest losses came under Presidents Carter, Clinton, and Obama (Iranian Revolution, Bosnia, Somalia, ISIS, etc.)

Simply put, the United States of America cannot afford another four years of weak foreign policy, vacillation, domestic terror, and even worsening race relations at home, all products of eight years of a Democratic presidential administration. Americans, Armenian or otherwise, should lean right this year, hard right.

Sincerely,

Ed Arzouian

  1. Wake up from your deep sleep, folks. Armenians have absolutely no power in Washington; never have, never will. More importantly, America has never been a democracy. The US is too wealthy and too powerful to risk playing with a destructive political process like democracy.

The US is an elite based two party political system overseen by a handful of special interest groups. The political system in question is like a two ring circus managed by ringmasters (i.e. special interests) the audience does not get to see.

Who/what are these special interests?: Counsel on Foreign Relations; Pentagon; CIA; military industrial complex, Wall Street; Federal Reserve; energy lobby; pharmaceuticals lobby.

Presidential candidates from both sides of the political fence will therefore have no choice but to serve the above referenced imperial elite once they get into the White House. Think of it this way: Every four years the political/financial elite in the US decide what shirt the American sheeple will wear, the sheeple are then given the “democratic” choice of picking between two colors. Once in office US presidents are tasked with selling to the public what the special interests decide. US presidents are therefore like a salesperson or CEO of a major corporation.

Moreover, we must dispel the false notion that the US reached its pinnacle as a result of “democracy”. The US became a wealthy world power as a result of: Mass scale enslavement of millions of Africans; the systematic extermination of millions of native American indians; global wars for plunder; total control over global trade and commodities. Protected by oceans, the political/financial elite in the US took nearly two hundreds years to grow the country to what it is today.

It was only after Second World War that some of the accrued wealth trickled down to the masses and created the much vaunted “American Dream”. That the American empire is now in steady decline and that the “American Dream” is turning into a nightmare for tens of millions of Americans is altogether another topic of discussion.

Nevertheless, entrusting a nation’s politics to the whims of its ignorant masses is the fastest way to societal decay and eventual destruction. This is exactly the reason why Western powers have been imposing “democracy” on nations targeted with either destruction or occupation. Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya and Ukraine are good examples of what I am talking about.

That said, I am a Donald Trump fan. At least he is entertaining, at least his geopolitical stance regarding the Middle East and Russia is somewhat rational. But, as I already alluded, I am under no illusions. If Trump becomes president, any of his political stances that do not fall inline with that of the special interests will have to change. Therefore, in the big picture, it does not matter who gets elected (appointed).

  2. Considering that the greater good of the country is at stake, Armenian-Americans should rally around that candidate which is the best option for the country. To date, no republican candidate set to “win” protects the ideals of the constitution, and does NOT have the best interest of the American people at heart. When the Republican candidates in 2016 keep fanning the flame of fear, and deconstruction of the Obama administration – that’s not progress, that is vendetta; and Armenian-Americans should stop THAT level of idiocy and trivial behavior in its tracks before it infects the infrastructure of democracy even more. Stand with America, for the greater good of America – all else will be good as long as the foundations are preserved.

  3. Mr. Arzouian’s article is factually and logically spot on. The supporters of leftists engage in magical thinking saving themselves the effort of having to deal with reality. ‘I feel therefore it is.’
    Sincerely, Ray Markarian

  4. My goodness. This editorial is full of right-wing/fascist statements, paranoia and heartless disconnect on justice and equity. Thank goodness this is not the direction my people are headed.

  5. I AGREE COMPLEAT WITH MR. ED ARZOUIAN AND I CAN ADD THAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AFTER JOHN F. KENNEDY IS NOT THE SAME NOW IS GARBAGE SOCIALIST COMUNIST AND MORE

  6. There are many points that are flat out wrong in this article, some points with which I agree, and two points that MUST not go uncorrected.

1- Implicit in the early part of this piece is that Hillary
Clinton is currently situated on the left in the political spectrum. This reflects how right-wing perceptions have become thanks to four decades of big-money-funded-propaganda. She is nothing if not dead-center or slightly right of center when viewed in a broader historical perspective of what constitutes right & left.

2- To attribute the disaster(s) unfolding in the Middle East today to Obama is to be intellectually dishonest and historically short-sighted. It was George W. Bush who disrupted the delicate balance there by toppling Saddam Hussein, triggering the chain of events we’re now witnessing.

Everything else… well, let’s just say it would be a very long discussion, better done, and more enjoyable, orally, than via a keyboard.

  7. On the article ” Why Armenians should lean Left in 2016″ , 71 comments were posted, including mine of 2/11/2016. I wonder how many comments will be posted on this article. I believe it is a constructive dialogue.
Raffy expressed his opinion. Ed made his counterpoint. Both are articulate in their own way, and have the right to have different opinions; American-Armenians like the rest of the electorate in the US
are divided between Democrats and Republicans. We do have that choice; but we should avoid being on the extremes.
I personally am very pleased that the Armenian Weekly published Ed’s counterpoint, without any editorial comments, leaving to American Armenians to review the facts and make their own decision on how to vote. In my personal opinion, Armenian Americans in general, are politically savvy to make their own minds, in spite of the ugliness and messiness of the elections.

  8. Neither Democrats nor Republicans really care at all about Armenia. They might say they do to get Armenian-American votes, but in the end they all answer to Turkey. It doesn’t matter who you vote for. It’s a big sham.

  9. What is always striking about Republican party supporters is their lack of shame regarding their party’s recent past. Or has Mr Arzouian forgot that it was President George W Bush who destroyed Iraq, setting up the conditions that directly led to the near complete annihilation of Iraq’s Armenian community and the emergence of Islamic State as a regional power? Policies to destroy Syria and Libya were also longstanding Neocon Republican Party projects. If there had been a Republican president rather than Obama, Syria’s Armenian community would today be as extinct as its Iraqi counterpart, and both Syria and Iran would be a pile of ruins, their cities and infrastructure flattened by American carpet-bombing, with casualties into the hundreds of thousands, and with their American occupiers also dying in thousands. The world does not respect America – and a non-American’s idea of a good American president is one who will keep Americans within their own borders. At least Obama has (so far) kept the US military from doing more of the boots-on-the-foreign-ground devastations/”freedom” expansions that were becoming the norm during Republican presidencies.

  10. While I can not speak for those I do not know, none of the Democrats I know want to disarm the public, and Bernie Sanders is attacked by those who believe he doesn’t support gun safety rules strongly enough.

As to da’esh, I find Juan Cole’s description of the background very persuasive.

  11. I turned you off at your defence of NRA and its well-worn idea of “minorities arming themselves…etc…” crap.

It’s too bad, because you started well!

PS. How soon we choose to forget who got us in Iraq, under who’s watch terrorists entered the US and planned and carried out the 911 attack. don’t be biased.

PPS. Woodrow Wilson, who drew the map of post-war Armenia was a……Democrat.

    • “I turned you off at your defence of NRA”.

Exactly. Because we all know that its best for the average law-abiding citizen to be disarmed. Only the criminals, gang-members, drug dealers, etc deserve to have guns, illegal ones at that. And let’s not forget, all those militant leftist quasi-Bolshevik celebrities calling for gun control with their armed body guards also deserve to be armed. Right?

  12. With all due respect to Mr Arzouian, I think he’s got this wrong. Republicans candidates are bunch of losers, and Cruz and Rubio are both weak fascists like Mussolini. As far as I’m concerned from an Armenian interests perspective, there is no obvious choice as both parties have failed miserably meeting our expectations. I vote for Sanders as he has radical views and could surprise us all.

  13. With Bernie the country will become bankrupt and with Hilary we will be bankrupt morally and fiscally.
With the Republicans??? a chance worth taking.

  14. What do you mean by “Leftist or “Right…etc..I think people are using wrong expressions…..Americanizing everything, every single word ….

  15. Hasn’t Trump invested in Azerbaijan hotels? Not good for Armenians, although Clinton could be much worse for Armenians. Regardless of who is in why can’t we use our legal intelligence to work with the ICC or other institutions to help our cause. I don’t get it. We have all the proof in the world. Waiting for a presidential race to determine our chances here will bare no value.

  16. After assassination of John F. Kennedy, the United States has essentially become extinct as a self-reliant state with the power of the executive branch vested in the president, and has transformed into a cluster of transnational corporations and behind-the-scene internationalist power elites.

One exclusively American power elite group, which the Washington Post has called “the nearest thing we have to a ruling establishment in the United States,” is the Council on Foreign Relations. Several hundred of its members are current and former high-ranking US government officials. Indeed, throughout the recent American history all of the two main parties’ presidential candidates, with rare exceptions, were or are members of the CFR. According to Georgetown University professor Carroll Quigley, whom Bill Clinton praised as his mentor, the CFR is a bastion of policy continuums in US government, irrespective of which party is in office. Quigley, who was a closely connected elite “insider” to the American Establishment, writes that the purpose of the CFR is to ensure that “the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.”

Therefore, the fact that neither Democrats nor Republicans care about Armenian issues is not because they “in the end answer to Turkey”. They don’t care because there exists: (a) no appreciable difference between the two major parties and their domestic and foreign policies, as both are placed under the watchful eye of the CFR; and (b) any party’s presidential candidate does what the domestic and internationalist power elites will decide once he or she is in office.

    • [Justice Scalia spent his last hours with members of this secretive society of elite hunters]

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/justice-scalia-spent-his-last-hours-with-members-of-this-secretive-society-of-elite-hunters/2016/02/24/1d77af38-db20-11e5-891a-4ed04f4213e8_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_hubertus-850pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory

{When Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died 11 days ago at a West Texas ranch, he was among high-ranking members of an exclusive fraternity for hunters called the International Order of St. Hubertus, an Austrian society that dates back to the 1600s.

      After Scalia’s death Feb. 13, the names of the 35 other guests at the remote resort, along with details about Scalia’s connection to the hunters, have remained largely unknown. A review of public records shows that some of the men who were with Scalia at the ranch are connected through the International Order of St. Hubertus, whose members gathered at least once before at the same ranch for a celebratory weekend.}

More often than not, one or two SCOTUS Justices decide what is going to be the law of the land that 320 million Americans must live by.

    • Good point about the SCOTUS Avery. The latest “ruling” that 3 or 4 of them made, while being members of a minority, decided a law that affected 300 million people and the latter did and is doing nothing about it because, well, Joe Sixpack is busy watching the game. I suspect the presidents who put them in those positions (Clinton, Obama) also knew what was coming.

And John you are right about JFK. It seems he was threatening the status-quo which was set up at the beginning of the century, and had to be eliminated. And once we realize who assassinated the assassin, things fall into place.

    • Justice Scalia was widely rumored to be a member of Opus Dei, a secret society that made headlines after it was caricatured in Dan Brown’s conspiracy thriller The Da Vinci Code in 2003. Scalia, understandably, denied his affiliation. Supposing it was true, how could an oath-bound SC justice decide on a law in this country without consulting his brethren?

    • When Dennis Hastert was speaker of the House, the AG resolution was scheduled for vote. There were more than enough sponsors to carry the vote. Hastert was supportive in the beginning, but at the 11th hour unexpectedly did not schedule a vote.

At the time the reason was a mystery, although various bogus excuses were proffered.

FBI translator Sibel Edmonds testified around that time that she had heard during wire intercepts, of Turks boasting that they had paid off Hastert to derail the AG vote. She was ignored by the MSM.

Some years later, Hastert was nabbed by the FBI for wire fraud.
(He lied about making large cash withdrawals).
It came to light that Hastert was sexually molesting his underage male charges while he was coach at a high school. He was paying off one of his victims to keep his sexual assault secret.
Haster conveniently pleaded guilty, so it all went away.

It does not take a genius to surmise that Turks or their friends found out about what Hastert had done, and “convinced” him to derail the AG vote.

So much for the alleged “people’s will” and American “democracy”.

  17. Seriously? Any of the Three Pashas (Trump, Cruz and Rubio) are going to be good for Armenians? They’re destroying their own party from the inside, why would I ever consider giving them keys to the White House? There is something bizarre and highly disingenuous in the claim that Obama is responsible for the rise of ISIS and yet Bush represents a “success” in Iraq. In the past I might have disagreed with Dole and McCain on political issues, but they weren’t hate-spewing. Bar people from the country based on religion? Scary things happen when people act on the belief that we need to be “strong on foreign policy, crush domestic terror, solve once and for all the race issues at home.” I’m not saying that it would be 1915 all over again, but the current Republican vision is not a country I’d want to live in and I’m working hard to make sure it doesn’t happen in 2016. I understand that this is an opinion piece, but a rant devoid of facts, based on poorly argued, xenophobic party-line rhetoric is something I’d expect from a Sons of Ataturk puppet on a Youtube post, not something that the Armenian Weekly would seriously print.

  18. I, and several of my like -minded,”engers”,are extremely disappointed by Mr. Raffi Wartanian’s 2/8/16 Armenian Weekly,
“Why Armenians Should Lean Left in 2016.”
I firmly believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, however, I also believe it is unfortunate for a fellow Armenian to be, in my humble opinion, misinformed and misguided.

    • That article should have been titled “Why I’m leaning left in 2016”. We Armenians are a diverse and stubborn bunch. It’s rather presumptuous to tell all Armenians how to lean in terms of US politics.

  19. Only one president acknowledged the Armenian genocide, and that was Republican President Ronald Reagan.

As to the NRA, it was their offshoot, Gun Owners of America, that found the clause in the Obama Care bill, forbidding the ownership and sale of guns to people with medical conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, and asthma.

  20. I agree 100% with Ed Arzouian’s response. It is unbelievable to have witnessed what’s going on in the ME during Obama / Clinton administration 300000 people dead and millions displaced from their homes. Ancient cities completely destroyed. Christians massacred, Beheading of the innocent… these refugees and their kids will become the future terrorist hating the disregard of the western world which Obama / Hilary personified. Once USA as the moral leader lost complete credibility in the world… Not even Putin respects our president. The Iranians are laughing all the way to the bank. Just remember during the Armenian Genocide no one came to our help. During our visit in the Baltic last year people are scared that Russia is poised to reclaim the old Soviet empire and they have no confidence of help from US nor Nato countries. This is very much true for the future of Armenia. I am not sure if a republican president will be able to restore credibility in the world but it is certain that Hilary nor the isolationist Bernie is capable and I am sure they will the worst nightmare for the world stability.

    • Are you old enough to remember the George W Bush years? I suggest you stop watching mainstream news, it’s dulling your senses.

    • Bush and the gang lied to the whole country to get it into a war of choice in Iraq. It was all a sham. And destabilized the whole region. Not to mention the trillions in debt that war cost. You, me and future generations will be paying for it. This something the article deliberately ignored. If you’re going to blame Obama for such things, you have to blame Bush as well. Otherwise it’s just a bunch of partisan arguments bashing the other party.

  21. I received call after call from Armenian organizations the past two elections encouraging me to vote for Obama. Naturally I ignored them all. The state of our country, the Middle East, and the total lack of interest to rescue Christans from a multitude of massacres during the Obama regime. Coupled with the stern dismissal of Armenian issues while Hillary was Secretary of State. I hope is reason enough for ALL Armenians to return the favor by dumping Hillary in droves. Will republicans bend over to help us out?? Probably not… BUT WE ALL HAVE A SCORE TO SETTLE WITH HILLARY, and return the favor.

  22. Calling republican candidates the ‘Three Pashas’ is so inflammatory and biased you should be ashamed of yourself.

  23. Fortunately in the U.S. we decide to be Republican, Democrat, Independent or Libertarian- or none of the above. It’s our individual choice.
There is absolutely no need, indeed it is not civil, appropriate or polite:
    – To insult each other by calling names.
    – Not to adhere to facts and simply repeat “party lines”.
    – To be a revisionist of history.
    – To be so biased that you cannot see straight.
    – The AW should not be a forum for inflammatory statements or remarks.

    Vart Adjemian

    • Depending on what you mean by it, I don’t agree with the “be a revisionist of history” part. What do you mean by it? For me probably 75% of the “history” being pushed by the west, particularly of the 20th century (and which extends to current events) – is a flat out lie.

Yes the AW should not be a forum of inflammatory statements. BUT. My philosophy is, if anything is being published, especially something that puts our culture under assault, then “inflammatory statements” as determined by the moderator become moot. Example, my “scathing” comment on the shameful article “Speaking the Language of the International Community” went unpublished, but then again, why is such an “article” published here at the AW in the first place? To me that article was inflammatory against my sensibilities as an Armenian and I find such articles to be insulting and highly offensive, and as a reader, someone believes that I cannot react to it the way I see fit. Is that fair? Well I guess not and that is “my problem” – but it also prevents real dialogue from taking place.

  24. It is truly strange that some people are still under the impression that there is a functioning democracy in America. Despite what political party you “decide” to support in the US, the imperial elite in the US (the special interests that run the show behind the scenes) has already decided what kind of country you will live in. Everything else is a show. America’s greatest strength continues to be is its devilish ability to deceive perfectly healthy minds. Just realize that the American empire is a house of cards built by Freemasons and founded on genocide, slavery and wars for plunder. There is no such thing as “Democracy” in America. The America we all knew and loved was a post Second World War phenomenon. America reached it pinnacle with the defeat of Nazi Germany and the fall of the Soviet Union. It has since been living as a global parasite. Today’s America is a destructive force around the world. But thankfully times are changing and it will be downhill for the empire from now on.

    • “The America we all knew and loved was a post Second World War phenomenon.”

If you were white. If you were a black American, democracy was not in your favor since racism was institutionalized.

And racism is still around even with the major progresses being made.

“But thankfully times are changing and it will be downhill for the empire from now on.”

A collapsing empire is a very dangerous beast. Like the Ottoman Empire in its final days. I have no idea how America will react when this nation realizes it’s no longer a force to be reckoned.

    • {A collapsing empire is a very dangerous beast. I have no idea how America will react when this nation realizes it’s no longer a force to be reckoned.}

What goes around comes around. When in the late 1980s America was ruining the Soviet empire through the “kind” offices of sell-out Gorby, and then, in the early 1990s, the Russian Federation under the facilitation of sell-out Yeltsin, the US should have excepted that such dirty deeds, which affected the lives of hundreds of millions of people, would inevitably come back to bite her later.

    • The US began to embark on a very ambitious project in the mid 1990s. Remember that this was when Russia and China were not a serious factor in global politics. So, they had a window of opportunity. The project was meant to secure US/Western primacy in the 21st century while there where no serious competitors on the stage. In Neocon circles this was known as the “Project For A New American Century”. The still unexplained events of September 11, 2001 served as a powerful catalyst in this regard. The attacks in question forcefully pulled the US militarily into Central Asia and the Middle East. The whole region began to unravel soon thereafter as their ambitious project began to backfire in Iraq. By 2005, Russia and China were getting up on their feet. The window of opportunity was therefore closing. In my opinion, the American empire then began its downward trajectory in the summer of 2008. This was when Russian troops smashed Georgia’s Western-backed military and liberated Abkhazia and South Ossetia. They tired to revive the agenda in eastern Europe via Ukraine and in the Middle East the Arab Spring. They had limited success in Libya; Ukraine was for the most part a failure; and they have thus far been defeated in Syria. Russia has successfully stood up to them. This is why Washington types are foaming at the mouth at any mentino of Russia. So, as you can see, the dying empire is not taking it lying down, and there still are fires to be set by them.

    • john,

Agreed. Nothing lasts forever. Powerful players change over time, but playing the same old game. I’m just worried how reactionary the American public will be. It could be really really ugly if they so choose.

  25. Donald J. Trump would be the best (or least bad) for Armenian interests. He is the ONLY candidate who wants to finally end the Cold War with Russia and wants the United States to be partners with the Russian Federation. Trump admires Putin.

This would mean that the sanctions would be lifted and the two superpowers would start joint economic projects in Eurasia. This would benefit Armenia greatly. Even just the lifting of the sanctions would be good for Armenia and the EEU.

Bernie Sanders would be terrible. Besides ruining the US economy, he wants Turkey and Saudi Arabia to invade Syria. This would spark the Third World War. Armenians will suffer.

Donald Trump is not a real Republican. He is the only one who is against the establishment in the US. That’s why he is demonized and smeared relentlessly from all sides (the media, the entertainment industry, Wall Street, special interest groups, etc). His campaign is self-funded. If he becomes the main Republican nominee for president, the Republican Party will unite with the Democrats and support the Democratic nominee (most probably Hitlery Clinton).

    • How can you know what Trump really wants? He’s lying through his teeth like every other politician.

He’s being criticized for his racist views, bullying tactics to avoid questions and for not presenting any credible plan other than reassurances that he will make everything all right again. That’s it. Nothing real except the assumption that Trump can do all these.

He grew up rich, filed for bankruptcy several times, and does not understand how the average person lives and what they need to make ends meet.

And we have no idea what he thinks of Armenian causes. He’s a deal maker and I can easily see him making a deal with Turkey over genocide recognition, not in our favor.

    • “He’s lying through his teeth like every other politician”

So what’s the problem then? The President has to be a liar.

“He’s being criticized for his racist views”

By the liars of the mainstream media who are angry that Trump doesn’t need any institutional money… yeah very credible.

“not presenting any credible plan other than reassurances”

      Like every other candidate.

“does not understand how the average person lives and what they need to make ends meet”

Perhaps THAT is the right guy for the job.

“And we have no idea what he thinks of Armenian causes. He’s a deal maker and I can easily see him making a deal with Turkey over genocide recognition, not in our favor.”

That’s actually right, that is a real concern. But then again, he has made it clear that ‘radical Islam’ is the greatest problem and does not play the neocon trumpet of “Russia is our greatest enemy”. In fact he respects Russia and wants to work with them, which can be a positive for Armenia. But its anybody’s guess. We just have to wait and see.

    • ““He’s lying through his teeth like every other politician”
So what’s the problem then? The President has to be a liar.”

He’s taken it to a new level. It’s in his nature. If you hear him talk, it’s completely unscripted, and not memorized talking points.

““He’s being criticized for his racist views”
By the liars of the mainstream media who are angry that Trump doesn’t need any institutional money… yeah very credible.”

Are we listening to the same Trump? Have you heard him talk? He even pretended to not know David Duke and white supremacists. You completely ignored his racism and misdirected with blaming mainstream media. He has been voicing his views loudly for months!

I’m afraid to know what he thinks of us Armenians.

And he’s taking contributions. So he is not fully self-supported. Some rich guy.

““does not understand how the average person lives and what they need to make ends meet”

Perhaps THAT is the right guy for the job.”

How?! If you’ve been rich all your life, that will not give you insight into how the average person lives and tries to live paycheck-to-paycheck and has to deal with medical bills.

  26. I would like to bring to your attentions an interesting video, which highlights how influential certain groups are, and how little power we Armenians have. Compare this video, we haven’t even had an audience with Trump or any other candidate yet. But its interesting to see, it is informative.

First we see that Trump is for sure an Israel supporter but he is not being puppeteered by the likes of Goldman-Sachs or AIPAC, he very flat out tells them: I know you are not going to vote for me, I want your support but I don’t want your money. A very powerful stand to take and message to give. I guess that’s one of the reasons for his popularity, the people feel they have actually come across an American with potential to look out for American interests first.

During questions and answers, next on the nationalist Israeli agenda are two key questions which act as a guide as to “you are either with us or against us”…

    1. Are you going to ask Israel to go back to the ’67 borders?

    2. Do you pledge to hold Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the Jewish nation?

Trump answered very wisely (and safely), of course getting some “boos”. Compare Trump to the other AIPAC stooges like Clinton and Cruz, where their answers to the above are no and yes even before they make it to the stage. Nevertheless an interesting watch.

  27. I would never vote for that psychopath, Hillary Clinton. If anything, the Democrats need to be punished for not recognizing the genocide.

    Not that Trump will..

  28. The democrats have yet again proven to be useless. Not that Trump will do anything better, but Trump has major interests with Russia and thus his interests, russia’s and ours could be in alignment. Do not expect miracles! Yet at this stage we need a polar and radical american, not that useless woman who did not even want to be photographed in Dzidzernagapert! What a shame! Yet again we have to send a stern message and slam the door shut in her face.

  29. Well, this didn’t age well. Trump was Turkey’s best friend and he had several people secretly on Turkey’s payroll in his administration. Plus he is a close ally with Azerbaijan – even building one of his stupid hotels there. You got taken in by a flim-flam artist. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/trump-administration-enabling-armenian-azerbaijani-conflict-caucasus-170314 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/04/us-armenia-azerbaijan-nagaon-karabakh
