  1. Hi Nancy,

I appreciate your opinion and enjoyed your article. I’m interested in this Project 2015–how do I find out more?

Also, are there any non-governmental “dialogue” groups you know of between Armenians and Turks, because I’d be very interested to join.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Moses Alajajian

  2. Good work. Although you might have mentioned/included co-resistance in terms of the Gezi protests and its aftermath.

  3. Dear Moses Alajajian,
Thanks for your message. You can learn more about Project 2015 by visiting our web site. http://www.armeniaproject2015.org. Our work was focused on this year’s centennial commemoration events in Istanbul. We have just started talking about what we would like to do going forward.

In terms of civil society “dialogue groups,” I don’t personally know of any formal arrangements, but small groups and individuals have been engaged in these efforts for the past few years. There are plans under way for a gathering in Diyarbakir/Dikranagerd/Amed in August 2015.

  4. Nancy you an amazing lady nice write up and observation that great photo of the young man with the poet picture brought tears to my eyes.probably will say a lot about about every thing that you expressed in your article .

  5. Great article, and much needed! I am reminded of similar issues pertaining to Nagorno-Karabagh: Establishment discourse ignores the vertical power-relations (Azerbaijan’s domination/suppression of Karabagh Armenains) in favor of a flattened playing field with equal-and-opposing sides. In such a formula, concepts like colonialism or self-determination are replaced by “inter-ethnic conflict,” and commentators — both well-meaning and otherwise — end up asking the wrong question: “Why can’t we all just get along?”

  6. A good article. I want to mention the forgotten occupation and ethnic cleansing of the northern half of Cyprus of its Christian population(including Armenians) by Turkey. The same so called confidence building measures are being promoted essentialy aimimg to create a level of comfort finality and legitimization of the actions of Turkey. I despair that any of the socalled champions of democracy rule of law and human rights (USa EU) will act in accordance to their declared principles

  7. Excellent article! This was equally as excellent as Nancy Krikorian’s previous article. Hey, it’s really nice to see that many of the Israeli Jews are aware of their country’s brutal oppression against its Palestinian population; and as a result, they are joining the Palestinian people in its pursuit of justice in ending the human rights abuse directed at Israel’s Palestinian population, as well as ending Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian lands. Hopefully, this model of working together will finally bring about the justice owed to the Palestinian people.
