  1. I am not surprised. Here is the Wikipedia description of how Turkey was “created” “….the Turks first entered the region in the 11th century, and a country called “Turkey”. That easy ! “..entered” the region that was waiting for them? not “invaded”? And this is NOT even Turkish site ! What do we except from Turkish government?

  2. Perfect Proof of the anti-armenian bias in Turkey today. Proof that this government is a projection of the ottoman government and therefore also responsible for the armenian genocide and to be held accountable for what happened, acknowleding the truth and making amends to the decendents.

  3. truly shocking that this continues. This article gets right to the core of the continued denial and perpetration of lies which is shameful and beyond belief. It means that the Turkish state has abandoned any notion of truth and justice and has left these crusty pseudo academics the freedom to continue to write this propaganda that is racist to the core. Taner Akcam is right how can Armenians living in Turkey live with this on a daily basis. I feel sad for the innocent children who are fed this garbage.

  4. It seems the authorities are force feeding/badgering discrimination unto young teenage minds as if they are on a farm.

  5. Pity the truth is blocked by those who are equally “blocked” in mind and character. The truth often hurts, lies cannot be hidden beyond its expired period. One day, the truth will be open to all those poor students and they will be the ones who will suffer the sonsequences.

  6. Shocking and depressing. But WHAT CAN WE DO to protest or make change? Is there a central organization of correction somewhere? Please let us know the best way to join in the voices calling for truth and change. (Obviously the book publishers are interested in neither.)

  7. Outstanding article on an important subject. We tend to hear that it is the Ottoman Empire that perpetrated the genocide and the Republic of Turkey should take indirect responsibility as the successor state. However, many policies followed since 1923 have continued the process of genocide, including denial, cultural elimination, destruction of evidence, and repression of survivors. I wonder if this behavior may make the current government more vulnerable to legal claims but don’t have the expertise to evaluate that.

  8. Very similar to ISraeli school books and their propaganda against PAlestinians. In ISrael too, Jewish and PAlestinian students have to study the same books.

  9. But the question is, how is Turkey able to continue the denial of the armenian/greek/assyrian genocide.
Would a murderer judge himself and just walk into a prison cell, lock the door? Not likely.
I would say that Turkey is getting support from England, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, USA, Canada, Australia, Russia, China, and every single other country in the world.
Although a few of these recognized the genocide, they don’t take any action.
Recognize it at the UN level as to what happened.
Build up a military. Just like there is NATO, there should be one that the UN has. Redraw the border as to give Greece a good portion of their land, give the Armenians their land. For the Assyrians, I am not sure. I think their historical land has been Iraq.

How about starting by recognizing the events for what they are. They can’t even do that.
How about helping out the people of Artsakh/Kharabagh. They could not even be bothered to do that.

They talk about having a good relationship with other nations. Are you sure you want to have a good relationship with such a nation as Turkey, China, North Korea, Iraq (Sadam Hussein).
Yea, the USA killed off Sadam but I think we all know that they don’t give a dust about the people. It was about petrol.

I would like to thank for the efforts of Taner Akcam.
I remember reading what one turkish kid wrote on youtube. I think he said he was 13. He said he doesn’t buy the none sense that the turkish government is saying and that the genocide did happen.

Also, we have to be careful about hate. I don’t want to turn into the turkish government.
