Bergen Country ARS Announces Scholarship Deadline

The Armenian Relief Society of Bergen Country, New Jersey, recently announced the continuation of its scholarship program for the 2013-14 academic year. Scholarships in the amount of $750 will be awarded to qualified high school students graduating in June 2013.

The stipulations follow: (1) Scholarships will be awarded to high school students of Armenian heritage (proof required) who are residents of the United States and have resided in Bergen County for not less than a year. (2) Scholarship applications are available to high school seniors who are applying to an accredited four-year college or university. (3) The primary criterion for awarding scholarships is academic excellence. To qualify, students must show an A-B average and a minimum SAT score of 1600 (reading, writing, and math combined). (4) Additional points will be given for Armenian education and membership in Armenian cultural organizations, as well as involvement in the Armenian and local community, and school athletics or activities.

The Scholarship Committee reserves the right not to award scholarships in the even the said committee, in its sole judgment, determines that all applicants are deemed unqualified. Completed applications must be filed no later than April 30, 2013.
