GLENVIEW, Ill.—On Sun., Jan. 8, more than 50 members and friends of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) “Zabelle” Chapter and the All Saints Armenian Apostolic Church Ladies’ Guild gathered at Jolane’s Café in Glenview to celebrate Christmas and enjoy the joviality of the season. Silva Panossian, chairperson of the “Zabelle” Chapter, welcomed the gathering, acknowledged Araxsi Biberian, the president of the Ladies’ Guild, and Yn. Vaskanoush Sahakian, and thanked the organizing committee for their work.
After a delicious lunch, “Zabelle” Chapter Executive members Silva Bedian and Liza Alexanian challenged each table with trivia questions based on Armenian girls names. Amid lots of laughter, the winners went home with their respective table centerpiece. The fun continued with “Santa’s Grab Bag” where everyone got their choice of gift from those brought to the party.
Formerly an annual tradition in the Chicago community, it had been several years since the joint holiday gathering was held. Young and old alike remarked on the lovely affair. Surely, this tradition has been revived and will continue for years to come.
