The commemoration began with prayers by members of the clergy, followed by a speech on behalf of the Armenian National Committee (ANC) of Albany delivered by community activist Antranig Karageozian.

For the duration of the commemoration, Armenian American youth held signs demanding an end to Turkey’s campaign of denial of the Armenian Genocide.

The lecture also focused on justice for the genocide, as well as recent developments in Turkey. Mouradian emphasized the importance of enacting a paradigm shift in the position of different political and intellectual circles in Turkey regarding the genocide, including recognition of the fact that 1915 is primarily an issue of justice, and not merely a confrontation of the past and recognition.

The events were organized by the ANC of Albany and the Homenetmen of Albany.
