ARS Bergen County Announces 2011 Scholarships

The Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Bergen County this month announced the continuation of its scholarship program. Scholarships in the amount of $750 will be awarded for the 2011-12 academic year to qualified high school students graduating in June 2011.

Scholarships will be awarded to high school students of Armenian descent (proof required) who are residents of the United States and have resided in Bergen County for no less than one year.

Applications are available to high school seniors who are applying to an accredited four-year college or university.

The primary criterion for awarding scholarships is academic excellence. To qualify, students should have an A or B average and a minimum SAT score of 1000. Additional points will be given for Armenian education and membership in Armenian cultural organizations, as well as involvement in the Armenian and local community and school sports or activities.

The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to refrain from awarding scholarships in the event that all applicants are deemed unqualified.

For an application or additional information, prospective applicants can write to Nora Hovanesian-Mann at 16 Rickland Road, Old Tappan, NJ 07675 or at Nora.Hovanesian@maisonduchocolat.com. Completed applications must be filed no later than April 30, 2011.
