Minister Calls on Israelis to Boycott Turkey

On Oct. 31, Israeli Minister of Tourism Stas Meseznikov (Israel Beiteinu) called on Israelis to boycott Turkey to protest Ankara’s most recent anti-Israel move.

On Oct. 27, Turkey’s National Security Council (MGK) had approved changes in its national security document removing Iran and Syria from, and adding Israel to, the list of countries that pose a “major threat” to Turkey.

“As long as [Erdogan] continues making these kind of statements, there is nothing for us to do in Turkey,” said Meseznikov, as reported by the Jerusalem Post.

An official from the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Ankara will not address the contents of what he referred to as a “confidential” national security document.

Armenia, Georgia, and Bulgaria were also removed from the “major threat” list.

In addition to referring to it as a threat, the document accuses Israel of driving the entire region into an arms race.

Other threats that were added to the list are global warming and online terror.

The document, also referred to as “The Red Book,” notes the country’s policy towards its neighbors, and is generally revised every five years. The MGK is comprised of the country’s top civilian and military leaders.

The relations between Turkey and Israel have deteriorated in recent months. Most recently, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would boycott a climate conference in Athens if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends.

  1. First of all we should ignore Turkey’s RedBook.  This is created be sick military administrators in US and UK in order to put pressure in our neighbourhood and sell their guns thus keeping their jobs.  Countries in this neighbourhood are trying hard to prosper by hard work and development and not through war threats which we really should leave for the uncivilised Turkey.
Is Turkey a good neighbour to Syria, Iraq, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Cyprus?  (Turkey is a major threat to all these countries and their people).  Turkey benefited financially and politically from Israel more than any other country, since the Camp David Agreement, and now classified Israel as a major threat.  This is Turkish culture: grab what you can and forget your benefactor.  I wonder.  Has France got a RedBook where it classifies Andorra, Belgium, Germany, Guernsey, Jersey, Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain, and Switzerland as major threats!
People in sound mind are all laughing, when US states go and occupy militarily an independent country 12.000 km away from their borders, fearing the bare footed “terrorists”.  What a joke!  Similarly, Turkey, using US arms, bombs, burns and destroys undefended Kurdish villages, killing old, women and children indiscriminately.  (I wonder if the value of this “great” Turkish army will ever be tested against a proper tactical army of another country; not, like Cyprus, where the invasion almost failed and was saved by the UK and US planes and electronic warfare).
