‘Agnouni’ ARS Chapter Honors Members at Mother’s Day Luncheon

In the spirit of their annual Mother’s Day celebration, the New Jersey ARS “Agnouni” Chapter celebrated a successful luncheon on May 13.

The luncheon was hosted by Zohrab and Talin Daghlian in their home in Old Tappan, N.J., where a lavish buffet was prepared by the devoted members of the chapter.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Ungerouhi Knar Apkarian, followed by the blessing of the table by Yeretzgin Ani Bozoyan. Guests enjoyed home-cooked Armenian dishes and one another’s company.

On behalf of the chapter, Ungh. Natalie Krichian welcomed and thanked the guests for their support and commitment throughout the years. She noted how the ARS will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2010, with further humanitarian projects in Armenia, Artsakh, Javakhk, and the Diaspora. In conclusion, Ungh. Knar Kiledjian, the chair of the ARS Eastern USA, gave the Board message and congratulated the Ungerouhis.

As done every year since 2005, the ARS “Agnouni” honored three of its Ungerouhis for their time, hard work, and devotion to the chapter and the ARS in general. Ungerouhiner Sossie Galian, Ani Krichian, and Arpie Nerkizian were honored this year.

As the ARS celebrates its 100th anniversary, the “Agnouni” Chapter also honored a senior Ungerouhi, Lousin Sarian, who was a member of the ARS in Jerusalem, and joined the “Agnouni” chapter in the late 1980’s—serving the ARS for more than 50 years.

The “Agnouni” Ungerouhis express their sincere gratitude to the Daghlians for their distinguished hospitality. They would also like to thank Karine Kocharian and young Nyree Deratzouoglu, who graciously entertained the guests with their memorable recitations.
