Balakian and Sevag Talk (New York)

MAY 28, 2009 * BALAKIAN: ‘ARMENIAN GOLGOTHA’. Peter Balakian presents his new book, Armenian Golgotha: A Memoir of the Armenian Genocide, 1915-1918, at 7 p.m. at the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America. The memoir was written by Balakian’s great-uncle, Armenian priest Grigoris Balakian, and was translated into English by Peter Balakian and Aris Sevag. Armenian Golgotha is an eye-witness account of the Armenian Genocide and Grigoris Balakian’s own struggle to survive the massacres and deportations. Both Peter Balakian and Sevag will comment on the work and its importance as a historical and literary document. The presentation will be followed by a reception. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free and open to the public, and takes place in G-Hall of the Diocesan Complex, 630 Second Ave. at 34th St. in New York.
