Carolyn Rapkievian
Carolyn Rapkievian is Assistant Director for Interpretation at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian where she has worked for 25 years developing and overseeing the museum's educational projects and departments. Most recently, she has been a consultant on the Smithsonian’s “My Armenia” project. She has lectured internationally about the role of museums in understanding history, promoting peace, and the politics of cultural appreciation. Prior to her current position, she held leadership positions in science museums, nature centers, children's museums, as well as history and art museums around the US with a B.A. in Anthropology and a M.A. in Museum Science. She is the director of the Washington D.C. Arev Armenian Dance Group and Arax Armenian Dance Ensemble.
