NKR MFA Mirzoyan Calls Azerbaijani Diversionary Attempt  ‘Very Dangerous’

Reiterates Call for NKR’s Involvement in Negotiation Process

YEREVAN (A.W.)—Speaking to journalists in Yerevan after meeting with the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Herbert Salber on Oct. 21, Nagorno-Karabagh Republic (Artsakh/NKR) Foreign Affairs Minister Karen Mirzoyan said that a diversionary attempt by Azerbaijani forces on Oct. 20 is a “very dangerous development,” which proves how important the immediate implementation of the arrangements reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg are.

”We talked about a number of issues related to the relations between NKR and the European Union. Of course, the current situation in the negotiation process was also touched on. In this context, we underscored the importance of the immediate implementation of the arrangements reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg,” Mirzoyan said.

Speaking about the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group’s Oct. 22 visit to the region, Mirozyan said that a meeting in NKR is scheduled with the Co-chairs during which Artsakh authorities will present their assessments and positions. “I think the conversation will as always take place in a very open and working atmosphere,” Mirzoyan said, adding that the involvement of NKR authorities in the negotiation process is an “objective necessity.” “The events taking place once again prove that it is completely unrealistic to talk about real progress in the negotiation process without the fully-fledged participation of Nagorno-Karabagh,” Mirzoyan said.
