A good first start for educating the world of what happened to us.
When can this be purchased on DVD or electronic download
Very Proud od this Actors and Artists who took part in making of this movie, and the people in the Background, Just like Doctors Artists have no Borders, Governments my Refuse to recognize The Armenian genocide , Because they are allies with the Criminals and Murderers, But Artists always speak the Truth !!!! BRAVO AND THANK YOU.
I look forward eagerly to viewing this film. My people had the Holocaust, my late husband the Armenian Genocide–two incomprehensible tragedies.
The Anatolian Greek American Director Elia Kazan in about 1963 made what was his favorite film, “America, America.” Although the movie is not, strictly speaking about the 1915 Genocide, it does start with the Hamidian massacres of Armenians burned to death in their Church. The film is the true story of Kazan’s uncle, and his singleminded goal of getting to America, from where he truly rescues the rest of his family from Ottoman oppression.
My grandmother left Marash during this period. She could not watch the movie. But, it does concern us. Armenian characters
Are in it, and at the end of the film the protagonist offers the name of a dead Armenian shipmate to the Ellis Island official. “Luanne’s” becomes the “good American name” of Joe Van Ness.
The protagonist kisses the American soil when he steps foot on it.
Sorry my autocorrect went nuts. I typed in the name “Ohannnes” (not Luanne’s). It was that stolen name which the Ellis Island official turned into “Joe Van Ness”
