Nune Yesayan Visits Armenian Sisters’ Academy

RADNOR, Pa.—On Oct. 15, Armenian pop star Nune Yesayan visited the Armenian Sisters’ Academy in Radnor. Students, dressed in Armenian costumes, welcomed Nune as she arrived at the school with the traditional “Agh oo Hats” (“Salt and Bread”) reception.

The award-winning singer is on a seven-week tour across the United States and Canada organized by the Republic of Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora and the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society.
Nune visited each classroom, where she praised the students for learning the Armenian language so well and encouraged them to continue their studies. The Kindergartners sang “Gakavi Yerkuh” (“Little Partridge Song”) for Nune, who enthusiastically clapped and sang along with them.

Following a tour of the school, Nune joined the faculty, staff, and students in the Hovsepian Activity Center where Principal Sister Emma Moussayan warmly welcomed her to the Armenian Sisters’ Academy. On behalf of the entire student body, 8^th-grader Narek Boghosian welcomed Nune and requested that she sing a song for them.
Students from Kindergarten through the 5^th grade performed a selection of songs for the honored guest, who attentively and eagerly listened to their beautiful voices.
Nune thanked the Academy students, administration, and parents for their warm welcome. She graciously answered students’ questions and sang “Kedashen,” much to the excitement of those in attendance. Afterwards, students lined up to get autographs and posed for a group picture with the singer.
The Sisters along with the Academy’s Parent Teacher Council hosted a reception for Nune and her entourage following the assembly.
