Homenetmen Inaugurates Charlotte Chapter

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—On Aug. 30, the Homenetmen (Armenian General Athletic Union and Scouts) Charlotte chapter was founded at the St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church of Charlotte, in response to an appeal Executive by the local Armenian community to the Homenetmen Eastern United States Regional.

The inaugural meeting, which took place in the St. Sarkis Church hall after Sunday Mass, was opened by welcoming remarks by community member Raffi Chamoun, who welcomed parents and their children who had accepted the community’s invitation to be present at the inaugural meeting and foundation ceremony.

Vahe Tanashian, chair of the Homenetmen Eastern United States Regional Executive, delivered a speech on behalf of the Homenetmen Eastern United States. Ara Ishkhanian, Mark Torosian, and Aram Kayserian, all members of the Regional Executive, also spoke. Members of the Armenian community of Charlotte were given a presentation about the history, structure, and work of the organization.

During the presentation, the Regional Executive appointed Raffi Chamoun, Anoush Janessian, and Talin Chamoun as the inaugural executive body of the Charlotte chapter.Charlotte 1

Members of the Regional Executive also thanked the local community members who worked tirelessly to organize the establishment of a local Homenetmen chapter in Charlotte.
