Armenia Welcomes Agreement over Iranian Nuclear Program

Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandianon July 14 welcomed the agreement reached over the Iranian nuclear program. In a short statement, Nalbandian said that the agreement would help enhance trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran.

Following 20 months of discussions, negotiators reached a landmark deal aimed at restricting Iran’s nuclear program. The agreement has been at the center of U.S. President Barack Obama’s foreign policy and aims to help mend relations between Iran and the West.

Despite religious differences, relations between Armenia and Iran have been positive since Armenia’s independence in 1991.

Armenia welcomes the agreement reached over the Iranian nuclear program as a result of constructive and goal-oriented efforts by Iran and the international mediators.

This long expected agreement is an important achievement in favor of strengthening international, regional stability and cooperation.

We hope that it will be an additional impetus to the enhancement of trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and friendly Iran, the realization of joint projects.
