‘Responsibility 2015’ a Resounding Success

Conference Attracts Hundreds from U.S. and Beyond

NEW YORK (A.W.)—Hundreds converged in New York last weekend to attend the “Responsibility 2015” Conference featuring scholars, opinion makers, and artists from around the world.

The conference took off on Fri., March 13 with a Plenary Session featuring Prof. Hannibal Travis; Dr. Simon Adams, the executive director of the Global Center for the Responsibility to Protect; and jurist Geoffrey Robertson, who delivered the keynote. Hayg Oshagan, chairman of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Eastern Region Central Committee and co-chair of the “Responsibility 2015” organizing committee, delivered the opening remarks.

Concurrent panels examined the state of Armenian Genocide scholarship, genocide education, solidarity efforts, individual and group reparations, genocide denial, transitional justice, gender and mass violence, Islamized Armenians, and the Armenian Genocide in policy circles.

Many traveled from across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Egypt, Lebanon, and Australia to attend the conference.

A sold-out luncheon on Sat., March 14 brought together a stellar lineup of authors, including Eric Bogosian, Geoffrey Robertson, Scout Tufankjian, Chris Bohjalian, Dana Walrath, Matthew Karanian, Nancy Kricorian, Aline Ohanesian, Laure Marchand, Guillaume Perrier, Richard Hovannisian, and Marian MacCurdy. The authors spoke briefly about their work, and signed copies of their books following the luncheon.

That same evening, a VIP reception was held featuring brief comments and a musical program.

Following concurrent panels on Sunday morning and early afternoon, the “Responsibility 2015” Conference concluded with a panel on the arts featuring Alexander Dinelaris, Scout Tufankjian, Chris Bohjalian, Eric Bogosian, and Dana Walrtah.

Both national and international media covered the event and conducted interviews with participants.

The “Responsibility 2015” Conference was organized by the ARF Eastern U.S. Centennial Committee, under the auspices of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of America, Eastern Region.

The organizing committee was comprised of the following scholars and activists: Khatchig Mouradian and Hayg Oshagan, co-chairs; George Aghjayan, Kim Hekimian, Antranig Kasbarian, Sarkis Balkhian, and Henry Theriault.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped, work and participated in accomplishing this very important event, finally the truth has started to shine like the morning star, and the criminal Turkish government successors will need to make the proper repair of their damage. The sooner the better for everyone.

  2. Congratulations to the Organizes of the Conference Responsibility 2015 in New York. We hope the Obama Administration will finally pass & recognize the well documented Armenian Genocide by April 24th of this year so that those whom died in those atrocities can rest in peace.

  3. I think it is very interesting theme to develope in evry armenian community around the world. It is important to show to all gvernments
    It is important to be able to show to the world everything the Armenian values and the negative consequences that the genocide has had for the Armenians and for the whole humanity. The territorial claims and of indemnifications, they are a part of the absent justice. , The justice denied to the Armenian people for whom they hold the power. The denial of the genocide on the part of the Turkish State is not another thing that the continuation of the genocide in spite of the passed time.
