ARF Expresses Solidarity with Kobani Resistance

YEREVAN (A.W.)—The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) issued a statement on Oct. 8 condemning Turkey for blocking the road for assistance to the Kurdish resistance in Kobani against ISIS, while for three years it has allowed radical militants to cross the border unhindered.

The statement noted that although Turkey uses the toppling of Syria’s regime as excuse, it is supporting ISIS to influence and control northern Syria.

The ARF expressed solidarity with all the forces resisting the Turkish aggression, and demanded Turkey’s allies to curb Ankara’s expansionist policies.

  1. While I can sympathize with Kurds to some extent, I think they are going to take our lands in eastern “Turkey” as they grow more powerful. Then what?

  2. Armenians are already on the councils for the PYD in Syria. They are committed multi-ethnic inclusive secularists. See the following excerpt:

  3. Here is the excerpt: Rojava has not only maintained its independence, but is a remarkable democratic experiment. Popular assemblies have been created as the ultimate decision-making bodies, councils selected with careful ethnic balance (in each municipality, for instance, the top three officers have to include one Kurd, one Arab and one Assyrian or Armenian Christian, and at least one of the three has to be a woman), there are women’s and youth councils, and, in a remarkable echo of the armed Mujeres Libres (Free Women) of Spain, a feminist army, the “YJA Star” militia (the “Union of Free Women”, the star here referring to the ancient Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar), that has carried out a large proportion of the combat operations against the forces of Islamic State.

  4. solidarity in words is not enough, If you want Kurdish respect and loyalty, send fighters, send arms, send advisers, if you can’t shut up and don’t make a fool of yourselves, people who are dying don’t need words, we as Armenians know better.

    • You seem to have a personal dislike of ARF, to write such a post.
Are you advocating that ARF send young Armenian men to fight for and surely be killed in a firefight that has nothing to do with Armenians.
I am not a member of ARF, but doubt very much they want (or need) Kurdish respect or Kurdish loyalty.
And if you are so concerned about Kobani, why don’t you yourself volunteer to go there and fight.

And when it comes to actual fighting in case Armenians are in danger, ARF volunteers have earned the respect, and in spades, of the only entity that would matter to ARF: Armenian people.

And there is nothing wrong just expressing solidarity: Several 1000s of young Kurds are engaged in daily marches throughout Europe and Turkey to expresses solidarity with their Syrian Kurd kin at Kobani. Why don’t you give those young Kurds the same advice you are giving ARF.
