Rep. Levin also recently signed the Dear Colleague letter addressed to President Barack Obama by California Reps. Adam Schiff (D-28) and David Valadao (R-21) regarding the Armenian Orphan Rug. The letter received bipartisan support and called on the president to release the rug, which was handmade by orphans of the Armenian Genocide, to the American public for exhibition.

They also discussed the self-determination and independence of the Republic of Nagorno Karabagh, foreign aid to Armenia, Azeri aggression in the Caucasus, and the Armenian community in Michigan’s Congressional 9th district.

“We thank Rep. Sander Levin for his unwavering support of the Armenian community both in Michigan and in the United States. He has been a friend of ours for many years and has shown what a strong advocate he is to the Armenian people,” said Kouyoumdjian, chair of the ANC of Michigan.

The ANC of Michigan has planned a robust series of meetings with lawmakers from Michigan’s federal and state delegations for the coming months.
