Aznavour to Rally for Bill Criminalizing Genocide

PARIS, France (Combined Sources)—Famous French Armenian singer and Armenia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Charles Aznavour, will join a scheduled rally in front of the French Senate to ask the legislative body to pass a measure criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide.

The Paris-based Nouvelles d’Arménie newspaper reported that Aznavour will take part in a political protest for the first time in his life. The event, initiated by Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations in France, will also bring together Patrick Devedjian, Serge Klarsfeld, and other public figures.

On Oct. 12, 2006, the French National Assembly passed a bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial. Recently, WikiLeaks published a cable quoting French President Nicolas Sarkozy as saying that the bill “will be buried in the Senate.” This statement angered Aznavour, who publicly decried the president’s remarks.

Charles Aznavoor, will always be my favored singer in the whole world, you sure are a True Armenian.    Fame and wealth did not change you.    BRAVO.     Thank you on behalf of my parents Megerditch, and Aghavni Antaramian,  they were the Armenian Genocide survivors in 1915.
Thank you so much.

My dear father Dikran an Armenian Genocide survivor from 1915, years ago told me that he praised Charles Aznavour as he is a genuine Armenian patriot; my father would say this on numerous occasions.  I was very young than and I nodded, but we can all see today how well my father understood him and deservedly praised him.

We love you Charles Aznavour and may you live to be 100+ years and with good health.  It is true that fame, money, power and rank did not change you one bit.  You are a true gem and a good role model for every Armenian alive.  God Bless You.
