ARF Bureau Meets with President Sarkisian

WASHINGTON—On the sidelines of President Obama’s international nuclear summit, Armenian President Serge Sarkisian met with a delegation of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau on April 14.

A scene from the meeting

ARF Bureau members Dr. Viken Hovsepian, Hagop Der-Khachadourian, and Haig Oshagan, accompanied by ARF Eastern U.S. Central Committee chairman Antranig Kasbarian, met with Sarkisian.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed Armenia-diaspora relations, Armenia’s foreign policy, Armenia-Turkey relations, the Nagorno-Karabagh peace process, diaspora efforts on behalf of Armenia and Karabagh, as well as efforts to garner international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Earlier the same day, after a commemoration event at President Woodrow Wilson’s tomb, where Sarkisian laid a wreath and later made a statement, Hovsepian had urged Sarkisian to rescind Armenia’s signature from the protocols in an interview with the Armenian We.

During the face-to-face meeting with Sarkisian, the Bureau said the party’s concerns would dissipate if Sarkisian rescinded Armenia’s signature from the documents.

  1. I hope our boys from Yerevan got a tongue lashing…

Just because Sarkisian paid tribute to the late President Wilson and got lucky in calling Erdogan’s bluff doesn’t mean he or his government are off the hook for signing those defeatists protocols. The fact remains that if Erdogan went ahead and ratified the protocols our beloved Sarkisian was going to follow suit as well.

Point being, the RA under President Sarkisian signed a set of insulting protocols that allowed for the questioning of our irrefutable history and the relinquishing of our Western Armenian lands surreptitiously behind all our backs.

Erdogan didn’t/won’t ratify this set of protocols. Will Erdogan ratify the next set of protocols devised by the geniuses in Yerevan? Will Sarkisian make the same mistakes assuming he is in power in the future? How will astute political parties and their members in Armenia and the Diaspora ensure Yerevan doesn’t relinquish anymore of our rights without truth and justice being at the core of any set of protocols with Turkey?

Serious questions for serious party members to ponder over very carefully. NOW is the time to act NOT when the next delegation of American and European bureaucrats escort Armenian officials to Zurich to sign our rights away!!!!!!

  2. I am with you Dr. Hovsepian, I am with you most certainly.  Most of us here in Diaspora would love if Sarkisian rescinded Armenia’s signature from the protocol documents.  Then we can sleep better.

  3. Boys from Yerevan will not only sign protocols but sell their souls to devil to cling to power and line their pockets…
